S. Korea replaces ambassador to Mongolia

SEOUL, South Korea has replaced its ambassador to Mongolia in just 15 months, the foreign ministry said Monday.Choi Jin-won, director-general for international administrative cooperation at the interior ministry, has been appointed as the new ambassador, according to the ministry.Cho is a career diplomat who served as the counselor of the Korean Embassy in the United States and deputy director-general for bilateral economic affairs at the ministry.Kim Jong-gu, the current ambassador to Mongolia, is accused of involvement in handing over personal information of veterans of the Vietnam War, which was used to secure the minimum number of members required in forming a new political party.Kim assumed his post in December 2022.Source: Yonhap News Agency
