Seoul: The foreign ministry announced plans to impose a travel ban on Mali, citing increased terrorist activities in the African nation. The decision comes as public safety concerns have escalated due to the activities of al-Qaeda-linked armed group JNIM.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the ban is expected to be enforced on Tuesday and will be classified under the highest Level 4 of a four-tier travel warning system. This measure is a response to the deteriorating security situation, particularly in Mali's capital, Bamako, which faces a blockade and is home to most South Korean nationals in the country.
The ministry further informed that enhanced consular services are being provided to South Korean nationals in Tanzania amidst spreading anti-government protests.
