S. Korean diplomat Yun Seong-deok elected as chairperson of ILO Governing Body


SEOUL, South Korean Ambassador to Geneva Yun Seong-deok was elected as the chairperson of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Governing Body, the foreign ministry here said Saturday.

During the 351st general session of the Governing Body held Saturday (local time) in Geneva, Yun, who serves as the permanent representative to the South Korean mission in Geneva, was selected as the new chairperson for the 2024-25 term, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He was the only candidate for the post of chairperson of the ILO’s executive body that oversees the organization’s policies and budget.

It is the first time since 2003 that South Korea serves as the ILO Governing Body chair, the ministry said.
