S. Korean Golfers Record Lowest LPGA Wins in 13 Years.

Naples: South Korean golfers, once a dominant force on the LPGA Tour, concluded the 2024 season with a combined total of three victories, marking the lowest number since 2011. The season ended with An Narin, a third-year professional, tying for fifth place at the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Florida, with a score of 15-under 273. This was the best performance by a South Korean player at the event, though An finished seven strokes behind the champion, Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand.According to Yonhap News Agency, the three South Korean winners of the season were Amy Yang, who claimed her first major title at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship in June; Ryu Hae-ran, who secured her second career victory at the FM Championship in September; and Kim A-lim, who broke a four-year title drought with a win at the Lotte Championship on November 10. The last time South Korean players achieved only three wins was in 2011 when Ryu So-yeon, Choi Na-yeon, and Park Hee-young each secured a win.Notably absent from t he winners' circle this season was former world No. 1 Ko Jin-young, who had managed to secure at least one victory each year from 2017 to 2023. In 2024, Ko had seven top-10 finishes but did not clinch a victory. Furthermore, South Korean players missed out on individual awards, with Ryu narrowly missing the Vare Trophy for scoring champion to Ayaka Furue of Japan. Ryu finished with a scoring average of 70, just behind Furue's 69.988.Additionally, Im Jin-hee's attempt to win the Rookie of the Year award fell short. She was trailing Japan's Mao Saigo by 66 points before the final tournament. Im needed to finish fourth or higher to surpass Saigo but ended in a tie for 42nd place. Saigo secured the rookie award by finishing tied for 25th, ending the season with 959 points, 86 points ahead of Im.
