S. Korea’s First-Shot COVID-19 Vaccination Rate Tops 60%

More than 60 percent of the population has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot since the country launched its vaccination program in late February.

The state vaccine task force said that nearly 30-point-nine million people had gotten their first COVID-19 vaccine as of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, or 60-point-one percent of the nation’s total population.

The first-dose vaccination rate surpassed ten million on June 10, 20 million on August 3 and 30 million last Sunday.

The task force projected that the government is expected to comfortably reach its goal to administer 70 percent of the population with at least one vaccine dose before the long upcoming Chuseok holiday weekend. That’s around 36 million people.

Those who have completed their vaccination regimen reached roughly 18-point-five million, or 36 percent of the population.
