Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. and SK hynix are intensifying their recruitment efforts to attract talent for next-generation technologies amid the booming artificial intelligence (AI) sector and an anticipated semiconductor industry “super cycle,” industry sources revealed.
According to Yonhap News Agency, SK hynix has commenced accepting applications for experienced hires this week, focusing on 10 positions that include high-bandwidth memory (HBM) circuit design and solution design. The leading chipmaker is prioritizing design experts, as integrating memory and system semiconductor expertise to deliver optimized solutions for AI servers, autonomous driving, robotics, and other areas has become a crucial competitive factor in the current market landscape.
Furthermore, SK hynix is actively recruiting new employees, aiming to fill hundreds of roles across design, devices, research and development, and mass production technology. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is also advancing its recruitment for new graduates, with successful candidates expected to start in the first half of next year in fields such as process development and circuit design.
The hiring initiatives come as both tech giants prepare for a potential semiconductor “super cycle,” characterized by robust demand and elevated prices for chips. Experts predict that the recent spike in demand for high-performance semiconductors, including HBM, during the AI era is likely to sustain industry expansion over the next two to three years.
“By recruiting talent in AI semiconductors, we aim to secure technological leadership and expand customized design capabilities,” an industry official stated.
