Seoul: Samsung Biologics Co., South Korea's leading biotech firm, has decided to hand out its maximum allowable performance bonuses for employees for the first half of the year, backed by its record earnings in the first quarter, industry sources said Tuesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the company finalized its biannual target achievement incentive (TAI) at 100 percent of employees' monthly base salary, the highest possible level under the incentive scheme. TAI is a biannual performance-based bonus, which reflects both company-wide performance and evaluations of individual business divisions, with a cap set at one month's base salary.
The bonus payout reflects the company's continued streak of record-breaking earnings. In 2024, Samsung Biologics posted an annual consolidated operating profit of 1.32 trillion won (US$965.8 million), up 18.5 percent from the previous year, with annual sales reaching 4.55 trillion won, up 23 percent on-year.
The company, the biotech arm of South Korea's Samsung Group, followed up with another all-time-high quarterly earnings in the January-March period of 2025, logging an operating profit of 486.7 billion won and sales of 1.3 trillion won on a consolidated basis.
Samsung Biologics currently boasts an annual production capacity of 784,000 liters, among the largest in the global biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing industry.
