Seoul: Samsung C and T Corp., the construction unit of Samsung Group, announced it has signed an initial agreement with GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) to collaborate on their small modular reactor (SMR) projects.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with the joint venture established by General Electric Co. and Hitachi Ltd. will see Samsung C and T participating in GVH’s global SMR projects, primarily focusing on the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) stages.
Samsung C and T President Oh Se-chul stated that the collaboration aims to leverage Samsung C and T’s EPC expertise along with GVH’s SMR technologies to deliver effective energy solutions for clients and enhance their presence in global SMR markets.
The partnership will encompass SMR projects in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Samsung C and T has already been involved with GVH in SMR projects in Sweden and Estonia, and in the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase of Romania’s SMR project, alongside global partners like the U.S.-based NuScale Power.
