Samsung Pay, a mobile payment system operated by Samsung Electronics Co., experienced a temporary disruption on Friday, marking its third service disruption so far this year. Service failures impacted users with Hyundai Card between 6:10 a.m. and 8:50 a.m.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Electronics posted a notice at 9:22 a.m. stating that the issues affecting card payments and registration had been resolved, although the cause remains unidentified. Samsung Electronics mentioned, "As Hyundai Card Co. has completed necessary measures, payments are now available," and assured users of their commitment to preventing future incidents.
Hyundai Card attributed the service failure to network instability between the company and Samsung Pay's computing center in Seoul. This incident follows another disruption in June, where the service was down for over three hours due to a firewall error at a data center in Suwon, just south of Seoul.
Samsung Pay is a digital wallet platform that enables users to make payments using compatible Samsung smartphones and devices.
