Seoul: Samsung SDI Co. on Thursday reported its second-quarter net loss of 166.7 billion won (US$120.2 million), turning from a profit of 301.2 billion won a year earlier. The company revealed in a regulatory filing that it posted an operating loss of 397.8 billion won for the April-June period, compared with a profit of 241 billion won a year ago. Revenue fell 22.2 percent to 3.17 trillion won.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the loss was 9.7 percent lower than the average estimate, based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
