The weather agency has issued cold wave warnings and advisories for Seoul and its surrounding areas from 9 p.m. Monday.
The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) forecast the cold snap, saying that the mercury will drop to between minus 15 and 16 degrees Celsius in seven cities and counties in northern Gyeonggi Province Tuesday morning.
The temperature will drop to between minus 12 and 14 degrees Celsius in the southern Gyeonggi region.
The KMA also issued a heavy snow advisory for much of the northern Gyeonggi region, from around 4:30 p.m. Friday. One to five centimeters of snow is expected through the night in the region, in addition to the one to three centimeters of snow by 4 p.m. Monday.
