Seoul: The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on Wednesday its plans to mobilize approximately 6,400 armed police officers to assist in the transport of ballot boxes for the upcoming presidential election on June 3. This measure is aimed at addressing concerns regarding potential vote rigging.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the police agency also plans to deploy about 6,200 officers to safeguard or patrol 426 early voting stations and 2,260 main voting stations across the capital. Additionally, 1,250 officers will be stationed at 25 ballot-counting locations to ensure order is maintained.
Police officials have indicated that they will enhance security measures during early voting on Thursday and Friday, and a highest-level security alert will be enforced on June 3 to further secure the election process.
