Seoul: Seoul stocks rebounded late Friday morning as investors awaited a major announcement by U.S. tech giant Nvidia on its business cooperation with South Korean firms including Samsung and Hyundai. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index gained 32.81 points, or 0.8 percent, to 4,119.7 as of 11:20 a.m.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Nvidia is expected to unveil details of its business cooperation with Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor Group, and other South Korean businesses later in the day. Top tech giant Samsung Electronics rose 1.25 percent, while SK hynix shed 0.88 percent. Hyundai Motor jumped 8.96 percent and its sister Kia added 4.65 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,428.5 won against the greenback as of 11:20 a.m., down 2 won from the previous session's close.
