Seventeen’s Woozi to Begin Military Service

Incheon: K-pop boy group Seventeen’s Woozi will enlist in the South Korean military on Monday, his agency said. Pledis Entertainment stated that the 28-year-old will serve as an active-duty soldier following five weeks of basic military training at an Army boot camp. The agency did not reveal the location of the camp.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Woozi was seen in the audience with a military haircut during the group’s “New_” world tour stop in Incheon, 30 kilometers west of Seoul, on Sunday. He was there to support his bandmates. After the show, Woozi shared a message on the Weverse fan community platform, expressing his feelings about watching his fellow members and the band’s fans, known as Carats, enjoying the music he had created.

Woozi conveyed his gratitude and strength, stating, “I’m entering the military with a lot of strength thanks to all of you. I’ll serve well and return healthy.” Meanwhile, Seventeen members Jeonghan and Wonwoo are already serving in the military, and Hoshi is set to enlist as an active-duty soldier on Tuesday, following Woozi.

In South Korea, mandatory military service requires all able-bodied men to serve for a period ranging from 18 to 21 months.
