Sixth Lawmaker from Ruling Party Supports Impeachment of President Yoon

SEOUL: A sixth lawmaker from the ruling People Power Party (PPP) has announced support for a parliamentary motion to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol over his unsuccessful attempt to impose martial law. This announcement could potentially influence the upcoming impeachment vote, which is crucial for the motion's passage.According to Yonhap News Agency, Rep. Jin Jong-oh's decision to back the impeachment motion adds momentum to the main opposition Democratic Party's efforts to introduce a new motion following the failure of a previous attempt due to a boycott by most PPP lawmakers. The impeachment motion requires a two-thirds majority to pass, necessitating the support of at least eight PPP lawmakers. The new impeachment vote is scheduled for Saturday.Rep.
