SK hynix Secures TISAX Certification, Leading Chipmakers in Automotive Information Security

Seoul: SK hynix Inc. announced it has become the first memory chip company to receive a global certification for information security in the automobile industry. The South Korean semiconductor leader confirmed that its domestic facilities in Icheon, Bundang, and Cheongju have been awarded the Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange (TISAX) certification.

According to Yonhap News Agency, TISAX is a recognized information security standard managed by the ENX Association, which includes European vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, and other affiliated companies. This certification aims to standardize information security protocols across the automotive industry supply chain, and it is a critical requirement for global automakers to evaluate security competencies.

With the acquisition of this certification, SK hynix is set to advance its development of high-performance memory solutions tailored for automotive applications. The automotive sector is witnessing a surge in demand due to the rise of electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous driving technology, and connected cars. These memory solutions are crucial for automotive semiconductors, which are embedded in essential vehicle safety systems like advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), braking systems, and engine controls, necessitating a superior level of reliability compared to conventional semiconductors.

SK hynix Vice President Kim Jong-hwan emphasized the company's strategic focus following the certification. "With this certification, we will strengthen cooperation with global automakers and major automotive parts companies," he stated. "We will also lead the next-generation automotive memory market by building trust with customers based on a thorough security system."
