Seoul: Son Heung-min has ended his first regular season in Major League Soccer (MLS) in style, scoring his ninth goal of the campaign for Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). Son opened the scoring for LAFC in the 42nd minute against Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, in Commerce City, Colorado. The clubs ended in a 2-2 draw in their final regular-season match.
According to Yonhap News Agency, LAFC finished the regular season in third place in the Western Conference with 60 points. In the opening round of the MLS Cup Playoffs, they will take on sixth-seed Austin FC. Son and his attacking partner, Denis Bouanga, successfully linked up for a goal once again. Bouanga sent a through ball to Son, who was charging down the left side of the box. After faking out defender Rob Holding, Son fired home a left-footed shot for the match’s first goal.
Son joined LAFC in August and concluded his first regular season with nine goals in 10 matches, including eight goals in his past six appearances. This marked Son’s first match back with LAFC following an international break for the South Korean national team.
