South Korean Business Leaders to Engage with Chinese President Xi Jinping at APEC Summit

Gyeongju: South Korean business leaders, including Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Jae-yong, are anticipated to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit this week, according to industry sources.

According to Yonhap News Agency, President Xi is scheduled to visit South Korea from Thursday to Saturday for the APEC summit in Gyeongju. This trip marks his first visit to South Korea in 11 years, during which he is expected to engage in discussions with both business figures and government officials from South Korea and China.

Notable South Korean business leaders expected to attend include SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Chair Euisun Chung, and LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo. Representing China, Zeng Yuqun, chairman of CATL, and Li Fanrong, chairman of Sinochem Holdings, are expected to participate in the meeting.

Industry insiders believe this meeting could be pivotal for South Korea-China economic relations, which have faced challenges in recent years. Key discussions are anticipated to focus on restoring bilateral supply chains, particularly in the semiconductor, battery, and electric vehicle industries.
