Seoul: South Korea's exports saw a 3.8 percent increase in the first 10 days of September compared to the same period last year, as reported on Thursday. Outbound shipments amounted to US$19.2 billion during this timeframe, up from $18.5 billion a year ago, based on the latest data from the Korea Customs Service.
According to Yonhap News Agency, imports also experienced a significant rise of 11.1 percent year-on-year, reaching $20.4 billion in the same period. This resulted in a trade deficit of $1.2 billion for the country.
In the prior month of August, South Korea's exports had grown by 1.3 percent from the previous year, totaling $58.4 billion. This growth was driven by strong global demand for semiconductors, despite challenges posed by the U.S. tariff policies under the Donald Trump administration.
