Special Counsel Summons Ex-President Yoon for Questioning Next Week

Seoul: A special counsel team said Thursday it has summoned jailed former President Yoon Suk Yeol to appear for questioning next week over allegations of inciting foreign aggression. The summons was delivered via a prison officer Wednesday after Yoon snubbed the team's order to appear for questioning that day, according to assistant special counsel Park Ji-young. The new date was set for next Tuesday at 10 a.m.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the team led by special counsel Cho Eun-suk has been widening its investigation into Yoon's failed attempt to impose martial law in December. The latest summons is aimed at questioning him over allegations he ordered the dispatch of drones to North Korea last October to incite its retaliation and use it as justification for his future declaration of martial law.
