Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index witnessed a notable session, with several companies experiencing upward movement in their stock prices. Among the top performers, Samsung Biologics led the advance, registering a significant increase of 22,000 to close at 1,179,000.
According to Yonhap News Agency, LG Energy Solution also marked an impressive rise, climbing 19,500 to settle at 358,000. Other notable gainers included HanmiPharm and Meritz Financial, which increased by 11,500 and 900, respectively. The financial sector saw gains with Woori Financial Group up by 340 and DGB Financial Group climbing by 50.
On the industrial front, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries experienced a surge, with its stock rising 13,000. LS and Hanwha Systems also showed strong performances, with LS gaining 5,300 and Hanwha Systems up by 2,100. Meanwhile, the retail sector saw emart's stock price rise by 500, closing at 69,600.
Conversely, some companies faced declines. KRAFTON saw a decrease of 5,500, closing at 317,000, while HYOSUNG HEAVY dropped by 5,000. The chemicals sector had mixed results, with Lotte Wellfood falling by 2,100 and Orion down by 400, although YoulchonChem increased by 2,550.
Overall, the session highlighted a predominantly positive trend for South Korean stocks, as investors responded to market movements with varied strategies.
