Seoul: Thailand will open a new consular office in Seoul next week to better meet demand for consular services, officials said Friday. The new office, located near the Thai Embassy in central Seoul, will officially begin operations next Wednesday, according to the embassy's website.
According to Yonhap News Agency, during its opening ceremony Wednesday, Thai Ambassador to South Korea Tanee Sangrat said the existing space could not properly meet the demand for consular services, noting that the new office will better serve the Thai community.
As of last year, nearly 190,000 Thai nationals had resided in South Korea, according to Seoul's justice ministry.
