Trump Announces Tariff Range for Countries Without Trade Deals

Turnberry: U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Monday that his administration plans to impose tariffs in the range of 15 percent to 20 percent on countries that have not yet finalized trade agreements with the United States. This announcement comes as South Korea is actively seeking to secure a deal before the looming negotiation deadline this week.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump's comments were made during a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Turnberry, Scotland. The U.S. administration's proposed "reciprocal" tariffs, which include a 25 percent duty on South Korean goods, are set to be implemented on Friday if no agreement is reached. Trump indicated the tariff range during a press session alongside Starmer, emphasizing his intention to be reasonable in setting the rates.

Trump clarified his stance by stating, "I would say it'll be somewhere in the 15-20 percent range ... I just want to be nice." He further mentioned that the final decision would likely be one of those two percentages. South Korea, among other nations, continues to negotiate terms in hopes of avoiding these tariffs.
