Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that any country or individual purchasing Iranian oil will be subjected to "secondary sanctions." This move is part of Trump's ongoing "maximum pressure" campaign against Iran.
According to Yonhap News Agency, President Trump made this announcement via a social media post, specifically targeting those engaging in oil transactions with Iran. He emphasized that such buyers would be banned from conducting any form of business with the United States.
Trump's statement on Truth Social read: "ALERT: All purchases of Iranian Oil, or Petrochemical products, must stop, NOW! Any Country or person who buys ANY AMOUNT of OIL or PETROCHEMICALS from Iran will be subject to, immediately, Secondary Sanctions." He further clarified that violators "will not be allowed to do business with the United States of America in any way, shape, or form."
This development marks a significant escalation in the U.S. administration's efforts to curb Iran's oil exports and tighten economic pressure on the Iranian regime.
