Seoul: U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will both pay state visits to South Korea during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) gathering next week, National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac said Friday. President Lee Jae Myung is scheduled to hold summit talks with Trump on October 29 and with Xi on November 1 in Gyeongju, the venue for the APEC gathering.
According to Yonhap News Agency, preparations are also underway for summit talks between President Lee and Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi during the APEC gathering. While Seoul is keeping an eye on the possibility of a meeting between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during Trump's visit, no new developments have been reported.
The APEC forum is set to bring together leaders and delegations from 21 member economies, including the U.S., China, and Japan.
