Seoul: Unification Minister Chung Dong-young met with China's top envoy to Seoul to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and address issues concerning the Korean Peninsula, his office announced. The meeting took place as part of efforts to strengthen relations between South Korea and China.
According to Yonhap News Agency, during discussions with Chinese Ambassador to South Korea Dai Bing, Minister Chung expressed optimism that the relationship between the two nations would continue to develop, especially with the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Gyeongju. The summit is scheduled from October 31 to November 1.
Chung also shared the South Korean government's policy direction on North Korea and unification, highlighting the need for trust-building between the two Koreas to foster peaceful coexistence. He emphasized the importance of China's constructive involvement in resuming dialogue and establishing enduring peace in the region.
In his response, Ambassador Dai Bing congratulated Chung on his recent appointment and reiterated China's commitment to promoting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
