Unification Ministry to Host Forum on Peace for Korean Peninsula

Seoul: The unification ministry announced plans to host a forum this week aimed at exploring ways to gain support for the Lee Jae Myung administration's North Korea and unification policy. The Global Korea Forum (GKF) is scheduled to take place from Thursday through Friday at a hotel in Seoul, focusing on "Toward Peaceful Coexistence on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia."

According to Yonhap News Agency, this year's forum seeks to gather both domestic and international support for the Lee administration's initiatives to achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula and improve inter-Korean relations. On the first day, Michael Sandel, a professor at Harvard University, will address a plenary session discussing the crisis of democracy and the challenges to peaceful coexistence.

On the second day, Friday, Archbishop Hyginus Kim Hee-joong will discuss the importance of restoring community spirit during the pursuit of peace on the Korean Peninsula. The forum will feature discussion sessions on various topics, such as inter-Korean exchanges, the development of South Korea's official unification formula, and the role of civil society, as noted by the ministry.
