Seoul: First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo met with newly appointed Indonesian Ambassador to South Korea, Cecep Herawan, to discuss the forthcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and explore avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation, as stated by the foreign ministry.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Park conveyed aspirations for expanding exchanges and cooperation in political, economic, security, and international spheres. The ministry highlighted that both parties committed to maintaining close communication to ensure the successful hosting of the Korea-ASEAN summit and the APEC summit.
ASEAN, comprising 10 member countries, including Indonesia, will have its summit with South Korea later this year. Park also updated Herawan on the South Korean government's ongoing peace initiatives toward North Korea, seeking Indonesia's continued support.
Herawan, who previously served as the deputy chief of mission to Seoul from 2014 to 2017, expressed a deep connection to South Korea and promised to work diligently to further enhance the bilateral partnership.
