Woman in 60s Found Burned to Death Amid Cheongsong Wildfires

Cheongsong: Police reported on Tuesday that a woman's burned body was discovered on a roadside in the southeastern county of Cheongsong, an area currently affected by spreading wildfires. The woman, in her 60s, was found deceased by a passerby around 7 p.m., just off a main road in the region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the victim, aged 65, had not been identified at the time of reporting. Authorities believe she was trying to evacuate by car following an evacuation order issued by local authorities. Evidence suggests she managed to exit the vehicle before succumbing to the fire.

The police are considering the possibility that the woman was caught in the wildfire while attempting to evacuate. An official stated that an investigation is underway to determine if there were any other potential causes of death.
