Working-Level APEC Meeting on Food Security Concludes in Gyeongju

Gyeongju: A working-level Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting on food security was held in South Korea to discuss global food security, Seoul's agriculture ministry said Thursday. The three-day APEC policy partnership on food security took place in Gyeongju, about 275 kilometers southeast of Seoul, from Tuesday, with some 120 officials from 21 APEC member states in attendance.

According to Yonhap News Agency, officials at the meeting adopted "Driving Innovation in Agri-food Systems for Shared Prosperity" as the main agenda for the APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting, which is set to occur in Songdo, approximately 40 kilometers west of Seoul, in August. South Korea has planned to host multiple APEC meetings throughout the year, as it is the host country for this year's APEC summit, scheduled to be held in Gyeongju in November.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs reported that discussions during the meeting focused on the APEC road map aimed at strengthening the region's food security by 2030.
