Gyeongju: Chinese President Xi Jinping called for jointly safeguarding the multilateral trading system and practicing true multilateralism in his speech to an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) gathering on Friday, a report said. Xi made the call while presenting a five-point proposal for building universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization in his speech at the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Xi emphasized the importance of joint efforts to protect the multilateral trading system, aiming to establish an open regional economic environment. He highlighted the necessity to maintain the stability and smooth flow of industrial and supply chains, while also promoting development that benefits all and is inclusive.
The APEC meeting in Gyeongju brought together leaders from 21 member economies, along with representatives of several international organizations. This gathering provided a platform for discussing strategies to ensure economic cooperation and development within the region.
