Yoon, Bangladesh PM mark 50th anniv. of diplomatic ties

President Yoon Suk Yeol and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina exchanged congratulatory messages Monday to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the foreign ministry said.

In his message, Yoon noted the two countries have developed their close and friendly cooperative relations in diverse sectors, including trade, investment, infrastructure and development cooperation since establishing diplomatic relations in 1973.

He called for further strengthening the partnership in the next 50 years, saying he hopes to work with Hasina to expand their cooperation to other areas, such as the response to climate change, science and technology, and the defense industry.

Hasina expressed confidence in her message that the two countries will deepen cooperation in trade, investment, human resource development, water resources management, science and technology, and education, to foster a more comprehensive and mutually beneficial partnership.
