Gwacheon: The state anti-corruption agency is set to make another attempt on Wednesday to forcibly bring in detained President Yoon Suk Yeol for further questioning regarding his failed martial law bid, as announced by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO).
According to Yonhap News Agency, Oh Dong-woon, chief of the CIO, stated his intentions as he arrived at the office located in Gwacheon, south of Seoul. Oh emphasized the necessity for President Yoon's side to respect judicial decisions, asserting that the agency will proceed with efforts to bring him in for questioning.
The CIO's decision to use force stems from President Yoon's refusal to comply with orders related to his December 3 declaration of martial law. Previous attempts by investigators on Monday and Tuesday to bring Yoon from the Seoul Detention Center were unsuccessful due to non-cooperation from Yoon's representatives.
Oh reiterated the legal avenues available for objections, indicating that any disputes over the process should follow the established legal framework.
