Dust Storms Forecast to Deteriorate Air Quality in South Korea

Seoul: Dust storms were predicted to deteriorate air quality in South Korea on Thursday, weather officials said. The density of fine dust particles smaller than 10 micrometers in diameter, known as PM 10, is expected to rise to the "bad" level across the country from later in the day, the Korea Meteorological Administration said.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the "yellow dust" storm currently affecting South Korea has remained in the lower middle part of the atmosphere, thereby not impacting the air quality significantly. Fine dust concentration levels have been reported as "normal" in all 17 cities and provinces.

However, as temperatures increase during the day, the dust storms are expected to affect various parts of the country. It is anticipated that the northeasterly wind will eventually help air quality return to normal levels by Friday.
