S. Korea Considers Sending Delegation to Holy See Following Pope Francis’ Death

Seoul: South Korea is considering sending a government delegation to the Holy See to express condolences on the passing of Pope Francis, the foreign ministry announced on Tuesday. This potential delegation would be in addition to an official condolence message sent in the name of acting President Han Duck-soo the previous day.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the foreign ministry is currently deliberating the details of sending a condolence delegation. "The dispatch of a condolence delegation is currently under consideration and further details will be shared once they are finalized," a ministry official stated.

Pope Francis passed away on Monday at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican, following a stroke and weeks of battling pneumonia. In response, a memorial altar has been established at Seoul's Myeongdong Cathedral for the public to pay their respects.
