Jeonbuk Forward Jeon Jin-woo Voted K League’s Top Player for April

Jeonju: Jeon Jin-woo of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors has been named the best player in South Korean football for April. The Korea Professional Football League (K League) on Tuesday announced Jeon as the Player of the Month for April in the top-flight K League 1.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the winner was chosen with votes by the K League's technical study group (accounting for 60 percent), fans voting on the K League website (25 percent), and players of EA Sports FC Online (15 percent) by Electronic Arts (EA) Sports, the league's official video game partner.

Jeon finished first among four candidates in all three voting categories, winning 20.93 percent of support in the technical study group voting, 14.19 percent in online fan voting, and 6.51 percent in voting by EA Sports game players.

Jeon has won the top monthly prize for the first time since making his K League debut in 2018. He is the first Jeonbuk player to be honored in two years. In the four matches considered for the award, Jeon scored four goals. He netted one in a 2-0 win over Daejeon Hana Citizen FC on April 5 and then grabbed a brace in a 3-1 win over Daegu FC on April 20.

Jeon then scored the winning goal to lift Jeonbuk past Suwon FC 2-1 on April 26. He was named the Man of the Match in each of the final two contests of April. For the season, Jeon is tied for the league lead with eight goals in 13 matches. Thanks to Jeon's prowess, Jeonbuk are in second place with 25 points, three points back of Daejeon with a match in hand.
