Seoul: Business leaders from South Korea and Japan have commenced their annual conference to explore opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in supply chains, energy, and trade, as stated by Seoul's industry ministry.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the 57th Korea-Japan Business Conference is taking place in Seoul and will continue through Wednesday, featuring participation from approximately 300 economic leaders from both nations. This year's conference is particularly significant as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic ties between Seoul and Tokyo, and aims to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the event, discussions will focus on potential collaborations in advanced industries, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and biotechnology, alongside efforts toward achieving carbon neutrality. The leaders are also set to deliberate on the possibility of a bilateral free trade agreement to bolster cooperation and facilitate exchanges between the people of both countries.
South Korean Trade Minister Cheong In-kyo, in a congratulatory message, emphasized the need for joint efforts to address supply chain risks, promote renewable energy usage, and expand the countries' presence in the Global South region, as communicated by the ministry.
