Vice Chairperson of Korea Communications Commission Resigns from Post

Seoul: Kim Tae-kyu, vice chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission (KCC), has offered his resignation, citing personal reasons, government sources revealed on Wednesday. The resignation has been reported to acting President Lee Ju-ho.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Tae-kyu was appointed to the vice chairmanship of the state communications watchdog in July of the previous year. If his resignation is accepted, the KCC will be left with only Chairperson Lee Jin-sook, rendering the body unable to meet the quorum required for official operations.

The KCC, which comprises five standing seats, has been functioning with only two members-Chairperson Lee and Vice Chairperson Kim-both of whom were appointed by the president. The remaining three seats are to be filled by the National Assembly. However, these positions have remained vacant due to an ongoing political deadlock between rival parties, further complicating the commission's ability to operate effectively.
