Ex-President Yoon Set to Appear at Special Counsel’s Office Amidst Dispute Over Appearance Details

Seoul: Former President Yoon Suk Yeol's legal team announced on Friday that he will present himself at Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-suk's office for questioning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. This appearance relates to charges associated with the December 3 martial law imposition. Yoon's lawyers have indicated that he will attend regardless of whether or not his request for a private appearance is granted.

According to Yonhap News Agency, earlier this week, Cho's team required Yoon to appear publicly at the Seoul High Prosecutors Office at 9 a.m. on Saturday. This demand came after a court denied the request for Yoon's detention warrant. The special prosecutor's office insists on a public appearance, categorizing the event as a suspect questioning session.

Yoon's legal representatives have requested a non-public appearance, proposing a delay to 10 a.m. and suggesting that Yoon enter through the underground parking lot. This request has been denied by Cho's office, which argues that accommodating such a request could be interpreted as giving Yoon preferential treatment.

Despite the lack of agreement on the appearance's specifics, Yoon's lawyer confirmed to Yonhap News Agency that Yoon remains committed to appearing at the special counsel's office. "We'll go there tomorrow and discuss it again on the site," the lawyer stated, emphasizing their determination to engage in further discussions upon arrival.
