First Lady Kim Hea Kyung Attends Opening of Fourth Women Entrepreneurs Week

Seoul: First lady Kim Hea Kyung attended the inaugural ceremony of the fourth women entrepreneurs week, which aims to honor the accomplishments of businesswomen, as announced by the presidential office. This event marks her first solo public appearance at a domestic event since President Lee Jae Myung assumed office on June 4.

According to Yonhap News Agency, during her address, Kim expressed her admiration for the women entrepreneurs' commitment to addressing social challenges, which extend beyond their personal and professional struggles. She acknowledged the unique difficulties faced by women in business, such as the glass ceiling and career interruptions, and praised their dedication to tackling societal issues that surpass individual and corporate interests.

The event was also graced by the presence of Hotel Shilla Co. CEO Lee Boo-jin. The women entrepreneurs week was legislated in October 2021 with the intention of boosting the pride of women entrepreneurs and heightening public awareness of women-led businesses. It is celebrated annually during the first week of July.
