KRX Chairman Embarks on Strategic Visit to Vietnam and Thailand to Boost Tech Collaborations

Seoul: The head of South Korea's stock exchange has departed for Vietnam to attend a ceremony celebrating the launch of a market system that South Korea assisted in developing for the Southeast Asian nation. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance technological partnerships in the region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Jeong Eun-bo, Chairman of the Korea Exchange (KRX), is scheduled to participate in the event in Ho Chi Minh City, alongside Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other Vietnamese government officials. The market system, which began operations in early May, aims to modernize the IT infrastructure for Vietnam's capital markets, facilitating stock transactions and depository services.

Following the ceremony in Vietnam, Jeong is set to travel to Thailand on Tuesday to meet with his Thai counterpart. The discussions in Thailand will focus on potential technology cooperation and reviewing the progress of a clearings and settlements system procurement deal that was signed in April.
