Eagles Achieve KBO Single-Season Sellout Record

Daejeon: The Hanwha Eagles set a new record in the South Korean baseball league by securing their 48th sellout of the season on Wednesday. The Eagles played against the Lotte Giants in front of a full house at the Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark, which accommodates 17,000 spectators, located 140 kilometers south of Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Eagles had previously set the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) record in 2024 with 47 sellouts at their former venue, the 12,000-seat Hanwha Life Eagles Park. This year, at their newly established stadium, the Eagles have successfully sold out 48 of their 54 games to date.

On the same day, another game was held between the Kia Tigers and the Samsung Lions at Daegu Samsung Lions Park, which also experienced a sellout with 24,000 fans attending. The KBO has witnessed 256 sellouts this year, marking a new single-season record. The Samsung Lions follow the Eagles with 42 sellouts, ranking them second.

The Eagles reached a significant milestone with their total attendance for the season hitting 911,661 on Wednesday, surpassing the 900,000 mark for the first time. Out of the 10 clubs in the KBO, four have drawn over 1 million fans this season, with both the Eagles and the SSG Landers (913,304) nearing the million-fan milestone.

Before the games on Wednesday, the KBO had attracted a total of 9,301,155 fans. With about six weeks remaining in the season, the all-time attendance record of 10,887,705 fans set in 2024 is still attainable.
