Busan: The veterans ministry announced on Wednesday its intent to actively promote South Korea's bid to host the 2029 Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded service members, aboard a British warship docked in the port city of Busan.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Veterans Vice Minister Kang Yun-jin and 2022 Invictus Games cycling gold medalist Na Hyeong-yoon will be present at a reception on the HMS Richmond frigate. The event underscores South Korea's efforts to secure the 2029 games, planned for Daejeon, amidst competition from Denmark, Nigeria, Ukraine, the United States, and Italy.
Kang is expected to highlight the government's dedication to the bid, particularly given that the 2027 Invictus Games are set to take place in Birmingham, UK. The Invictus Games, established by Prince Harry in 2014, serve as a platform for wounded, injured, and sick service members to compete in various sports, fostering rehabilitation and international camaraderie.
