Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co. announced that its Ioniq 9 electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) has been awarded the highest safety rating of five stars by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ioniq 9 was recognized for its stable passenger compartment during crash tests and its advanced safety features. The model excelled particularly in the child occupant protection category. This achievement ensures that all of Hyundai Motor's dedicated electric vehicles (EVs), such as the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, have now secured Euro NCAP's top rating.
Euro NCAP, established in 1997, evaluates vehicles sold in Europe based on four categories: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection, and safety assistance systems. Additionally, Hyundai Motor's Casper Electric sub-compact EV, known as Inster in Europe, received a four-star rating, showcasing its safety capabilities despite being a smaller vehicle.
The South Korean automaker emphasized that these results highlight its dedication to maintaining superior safety standards across its range, from entry-level models to flagship vehicles.
