Seoul: Chey Tae-won, chief of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), has sent a congratulatory letter to new Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, the business lobby said Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Chey expressed confidence that Prime Minister Takaichi's leadership will revitalize Japan and contribute to progress in neighboring countries and regions. The letter, sent on Tuesday, emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation to address challenges arising from rapidly changing global trade conditions.
Chey extended an invitation to Prime Minister Takaichi to attend the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit, which will be hosted by the KCCI next week in Gyeonju, approximately 275 kilometers southeast of Seoul. As the KCCI chief, Chey, who also serves as the chairman of SK Group, will preside over the event.
The APEC CEO Summit, a significant business forum, will take place alongside the APEC Summit. It will gather leaders from APEC member economies and global companies, including Nvidia Corp. CEO Jensen Huang, Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman, and Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
