Bipartisan Delegation from South Korea to Engage with Trump Aides in U.S. Visit.


SEOUL: A bipartisan parliamentary delegation from South Korea is set to visit the United States this week, aiming to engage with officials close to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, as confirmed by ruling party officials on Monday. The delegation comprises members from both the ruling People Power Party (PPP) and the main opposition Democratic Party (DP), including notable figures such as Rep. Kim Seok-ki, chair of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, and former Foreign Minister Park Jin.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the delegation will participate in the ROK-U.S. Strategic Forum at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington next Monday. Efforts are also underway to organize meetings with individuals closely associated with Trump. Park Jin, known for his connections with key figures like Sen. Bill Hagerty, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, is part of this initiative.

Furthermore, Park Jin
is scheduled to deliver a special lecture titled “Perspectives on the U.S.-ROK Alliance after the U.S. Presidential Election” at George Washington University on Friday. In a related development, National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik extended his congratulations to Trump on his election victory through a letter sent on Monday, expressing confidence in the continued strengthening of the U.S.-South Korea alliance based on mutual trust and friendship.
