Goyang: U.S. aerospace giant Boeing Co. announced plans to showcase its advanced defense platforms at the upcoming Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX 2025) set to open next week. The biennial defense show is scheduled for October 20-24 at KINTEX in Goyang, located just northwest of Seoul. Boeing aims to emphasize the networked and integrated operation of multiple platforms to enhance battlefield effectiveness and mission success.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the key platforms to be featured include the uncrewed MQ-28 Ghost Bat, F-15K Slam Eagle fighter jet, E-7 Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft, P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, and CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopter. Will Shaffer, president of Boeing Korea, stated, "Boeing's 75-year partnership with Korea is a testament to our shared commitment to innovation, security, and industrial collaboration." He added that Boeing takes pride in showcasing how its advanced defense systems provide the Republic of Korea with capabilities to meet evolving security challenges.
Boeing's cooperation with South Korea began in 1950, supplying the DC-3 passenger aircraft to the country's first civil airline, Korean National Airlines, the predecessor of Korean Air. In August, Korean Air Co. announced a plan to purchase 103 next-generation Boeing aircraft, including the B787-10, valued at US$36.2 billion, marking the single-largest aircraft order in the South Korean airline's history.
