Seoul: Kim Moon-soo, former labour minister, has been elected as the presidential candidate for South Korea's conservative People Power Party, as revealed by a TV footage yesterday. Kim previously served as labour minister under the government of ousted President Yoon Suk-yeol and secured 56.53 percent of the votes cast during the party's convention.According to Nam News Network, Kim's main competitor, Han Dong-hoon, who was the former leader of the second-largest faction within the People Power Party, received 43.47 percent of the votes. Despite Kim's victory in the party's convention, a recent survey indicated that Han had a higher public support rate of 13 percent compared to Kim's six percent.The survey results also highlighted that both Kim and Han's support scores were significantly lower than the 42 percent garnered by Lee, the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party. The survey, which polled 1,000 voters between Monday and Wednesday, reported a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent age points and a 95-percent confidence level.
