First Lady Kim Hea Kyung Attends Hanbok Fashion Show with Canadian PM’s Wife

Gyeongju: First lady Kim Hea Kyung and Diana Fox Carney, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, attended a fashion show featuring the Korean traditional costume, hanbok, the presidential office announced on Wednesday. The event was organized as a prelude to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, set to commence on Friday in the southeastern city.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the hanbok fashion show was held in front of a picturesque bridge in Gyeongju. Vice presidential spokesperson Jeon Eun-soo reported that the first lady and Diana Fox Carney engaged in a discussion about the beauty and cultural significance of hanbok. Kim Hea Kyung also took the opportunity to extend her gratitude to the public and members of the hanbok industry for their efforts in promoting the traditional attire on a global scale.

The fashion show was not only a display of hanbok but also featured other aspects of traditional Korean culture, including traditional housing, cuisine, and the Korean writing system. The event presented a variety of hanbok designs, from those celebrating the APEC summit to innovative pieces incorporating artificial intelligence technology.
