Genesis BBQ Expands Philippine Presence to 21 Outlets by Year-End

Manila: Genesis BBQ, a South Korean fried chicken franchise, announced plans to increase its number of outlets in the Philippines to 21 by the end of this year, reflecting the growing popularity of Korean cuisine in the region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Genesis BBQ entered the Southeast Asian market in November 2022 with its first outlet in Manila. Since then, the franchise has expanded to 18 locations across the Philippines. The company disclosed in a press release its intention to open three more outlets this year, with new branches in Cebu, Baguio City, and SM City North EDSA, a prominent shopping destination in Quezon City.

The franchise is known not only for its signature fried chicken but also for offering a range of Korean dishes at its international outlets. Customers can enjoy traditional Korean foods such as bibimbap, tteokbokki, soft tofu stew, and kimchi fried rice. Tteokbokki is a popular spicy street food made with rice cakes, while bibimbap consists of warm white rice topped with seasoned vegetables and chili pepper paste.

Looking ahead, Genesis BBQ has ambitious plans to further its expansion in the Philippines. The company aims to launch an additional 10 outlets by the end of 2026, catering to a population of over 110 million people.

Globally, Genesis BBQ operates more than 2,300 outlets in South Korea and around 700 overseas stores across 57 countries. This includes a significant presence in the United States, with 250 outlets spread across 32 states.
